9 HP cars at Dorsey Schroeder Invitational.
By Benjamin Johnson
In 2025, there were 9 H Prod racers that competed in the annual St. Louis Majors Eggstravaganza. This weekend, April 11-12, 9 racers will take to Worldwide Technologies Raceway in the inaugural Dorsey Schroeder Invitational.
Many in HP know that Dorsey got his start in an open top H Prod Fiat 850, so it is exciting to have a strong HP turn out for what we hope is the first of many invitationals.
The Mid-State region is becoming a VW vs. Mazda battleground. The location and potential for a good time has even drawn Hondas from Tennessee. This weekend has all the feelings of a HST as everyone is bringing their best after a productive off season.
The Mid State VWs are an incredible bunch of competitors and past champions. The 247-parts tandem of Chris Schaafsma and Chuck Mathis continually push the limits. The orange #54 and #23 look to roll out their off season upgrades against the mighty Mazdas. Another reason the VWs are so impressive is the depth. The yellow #3 of Chris Albin is never far off the leaders and the always quick blue #53 of Ralf Lindow looks to continue improving on the 2025 build. And if those 4 challengers weren’t enough, you still have the black and green #42 VW Golf of Angus Crome.
For many competitors this weekend, there is a bit of an unknown because it is their first Race of the season. For the Mighty Mazdas, Jesse Prather is fresh off a dominant performance at Eagle’s Canyon where he lowered his previous track record. The Chrome Blue #34 is ready to continue the VW Mafia rivalry. Speaking of JPM power, David Reiter is set to bring his Mazda 626 with his fresh EFI conversion. With JPM prep, we can be sure this is the best the 626 has ever been.
The TN Honda crew is making the tow to enjoy the festivities. The #73 of Darryl Saylor and the #91 of Rob Horrell will be joining the highly competitive field. Hoping to mix it up and find a race in the field the Hondas are adding to a hot hatch show down.
Overall, I am excited to see how the inaugural event goes and hope that this becomes a signature event for the region. Good luck everyone!
